sickness

I promise I haven't forgotten about writing in this blog! After weeks of getting everyone else in our household feeling better from a nasty head cold - GUESS WHO GOT IT LAST? *raising hand in the air* I'm feeling pretty yucky - so until I feel better, I'm just folding laundry and surving. I hope to be able to post later in the week. I've got some news I want to share (no! I'm not pregnant) and want to get your thoughts on it. Until then - *cough, cough* have a great week!

card table tent

Ok, seriously... have you seen these card table tents out there on the internet?? AMAZING!!! Besides finding some on Etsy.com and some of the craft blogs I follow, there is a CHALLENGE out there to make your own! They look pretty easy and my kids would FLIP OUT if they had one... so I found some pics and want y'all to decide which would be the best to try to recreate. Keep in mind I have a 3 1/2 year old girl (very girly) and a 1 1/2 year old boy (who likes to play w/ anything of his sisters). Does this mean that I make a girly one and later, when he cares, make him a super manly one? (FIRE STATION?!?) Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think!

These are all from an etsy shop called MissPrettyPretty. She makes AMAZING things there! You should check it out... www.missprettypretty.etsy.com Obviously, I will not be able to recreate her AWESOMENESS - but it'll be fun to try something out! I'm very tempted to actually buy one (which is surprising because I'm so stinkin' cheap). Tell me which one you like - I'm curious to know your opinion!

shock and relief

UPDATE:
Maggie is fine after spending a couple of days in the "doggie" hospital. The poisons passed through her system w/ no damage! She is at home resting and trying to put on a little weight - she lost some while being in the hospital on fluids. We are so thankful that she's ok and we have her back w/ us. Thank you for all the encouraging thoughts and prayers! ♥

It's 2:19am and I'm numb.

Our 1 year old chocolate lab, Maggie McFly, was poisoned last night with a mixture of anti-freeze and rat poison. I really thought she wasn't going to make it to the Animal ER and was going to die in the car on the way there. Thankfully she made it there and they say, because we responded so quickly, that she should pull through. They have started her on a very expensive antidote treatment to the anti-freeze.

I'm so angry! I'm so sad! I'm so bewildered! I'm, I'm... I'm all kinds of emotions rolled into one. I love this sweet dog so much - so do the kids. Please, oh please let her be ok.

working on first tutorial

MY CAMERA IS FIXED!!! I had a setting turned on that messed with the flash. Really bad. So - now I'm working on a tutorial for revamping an older style boy's smocked romper. It's turning out really good so far!

Now for some fun nothings...

I love my kid's bed-heads when they wake up. They are so sweet and innocent looking.

so frustrating

I am about to pull out my hair! For about 4 days I CANNOT get my camera to work right. Either the pictures are completely "whited" out or are too dark to see anything. I thought it was a flash problem. After many hours messing w/ settings, calling Nikon support, and reading through my manual - IT'S STILL HAPPENING!!!! I would be posting a cute tutorial or something right now if I could get my stinkin' camera to work. But instead - I will probably spend all day still trying to fix it. I wonder if there's a place (that I can drive to?) that can look at it for me for free? Again, ARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

first post on my new blog

So.....

I'm so impressed with the many, many crafting/sewing blogs out there! And because of that, I've decided to do my own. My hopes for this blog are to document my crafting and sewing endeavors, and be able to look back and learn from them. And, just maybe?, get some imput from some strangers out there on the world wide interweb.

Here's the things I'm currently obsessed/working on:
1. Hand embroidery (obsession!)
2. Smocking
3. Modifying patterns
4. ANYTHING vintage - especially patterns!
5. Pacifier button clips
6. Applique - wether by hand or machine
7. My NEW SEWING MACHINE! I've yet to name her...
8. Time management - needs lots of help
9. Organizing (the OCD part of me L-O-V-E-S this)
10. Crafting books that include patterns (♥)

That's all for now - it's late and I'm pooped! I've searched hours for this stinking blogger template and I'm still not sure I love it. Very indecisive. Ta-ta!
